Song writer – Presenting your songs
As a song writer I remember that my first thinking was; I have to record my songs with a singer and 4 to 5
musicians in a good recording studio, and that’s what I did In addition, I hired an arranger for my new songs and he came to the recording studio to oversee the musicians. I paid a lot of money.
I sent the new songs to different labels and record companies and here are the answers: 1-the arrangement is not good, 2-the singer should sing in a different key, 3-right now we don’t need Pop songs, 4-send us more songs, 5-get back to us in 6 months and it went on and on.
I was angry, disappointed and in the end I understood that as a song writer it was a waste of time and money to make an extravagant, unnecessary production for new songs.
Rather, it is best to make a basic demo with a singer along with a piano or guitar.
Moreover, hire a professional male or female studio singer that will present your new songs in the best way. You save money and with the money saved you can record a few more new songs.
For me it started because I didn’t know what to do in life. In university I changed my major several times until I discovered the best thing to do is; the thing you love. I love music and I listen to music all the time so it eventually became logical to me to do something with music as a career.
It was great; I was getting university credits for listening to all kinds of music and studying music and I thought, why didn’t I think of this before? I eventually studied music theory and it progressed into a university degree in Radio/TV/Film.
So, if you are someone who loves music and believe you have a talent to create and write then it is essential that you also understand how difficult it is to become successful. By successful, I mean being able to make a reasonable living from a career in music or something music related.
One important consideration in the very, very many questions you will need to make if you choose music as a career is, can you write music and lyrics by yourself? Or, are you dependant on someone else to write music and/or lyrics?
And, here I will concentrate on writing lyrics.
Most of the time lyrics have a basic structure. Lyrics are like a tiny, abbreviated story, however, most of the time it must be a completed story; a beginning, middle and ending. Very compact and utilizing the most creative and descriptive words to get maximum impact of emotion or reaction. Try to keep your writing up to date with lingo, culture and norms.
In addition, it is advantageous if you are fortunate enough to find a word or words that create what is known as a “hook” in the song or poetry; something that “grabs” the reader or listener attention so they remember this word or phrase continually.
But to write lyrics you also need to be inspired. Find whatever it is that inspires you and if you can translate it into words you might be successful in inspiring many others. Write what pleases you; don’t try and please others. This is impossible. During my career I have had many professionals critique my lyrics; some with negative replies and some with positive replies. Sometimes I thoughtfully applied what changes I wanted without changing the core of the message.
Moreover, when you begin don’t be afraid to ask for help if you wish. Sometimes, many times, multiple writers create beautiful lyrics together. This can be a valuable learning experience before choosing to write solo.
Finally, you need to love to write and thoroughly enjoy writing. If you have these qualities write and keep writing what inspires you and hopefully you will inspire others with your creation. This can be a reward in itself.

Rather, we attempt to provide all the information you need to have to arrive at your own conclusion concerning just what works for you. That sounds fair doesn't it?
We are attempting to provide you with information and facts on the most common and favored acoustic guitar strings on the market. You will discover all of the main brands within our categories list. Look at 1 or all of them, then make up your mind. When you read all of the information, you will be able to make the best choice as to the absolute best guitar strings for you.
A few of the primary things to consider whenever selecting the best acoustic guitar strings are:
Kind of String
Gauge of String
Tone of Guitar string
The Age of Your Guitar
Cost - A higher cost doesn't necessarily mean better quality of the best acoustic strings for your specific acoustic guitar or guitar playing style. You should consider all factors mentioned above prior to making your decision. With that said, cost may still be utilized as one aspect in choosing a string. This might be true either because you would like a great string for a lower cost, or simply because sometimes price may be an indication of quality. For instance, a hand-made string is much more expensive to make as compared to a mass produced string.
Kind of Guitar string - Generally, nylon guitar strings are much better for the novice guitar player, ball end nylon guitar strings are much better for folk players, and steel and silk strings are much better for finger pickers. Once again, this is a basic guideline to be utilized in conjuction with numerous other factors.
Gauge of String - The guitar string gauge is actually the diameter of the string. When looking for the best acoustic guitar strings, you will discover 4 major categories of gauges: extra light, custom light, light, and medium. The extra light gauge starts with a .010, the custom light with an eleven, and so on. The gauge size will increase as you progress up the categories.
Tone - Tone, obviously, is very subjective. You'll discover three main tonal categorizations based upon on guitar string type. Bronze delivers a vibrant and sharp tone, along with a more brief hold. Phosphor Bronze tends to provide you with a warmer tone with a slightly longer hold compared to Bronze. Finally, Coated is inclined to provide you with a relatively rich tone with the greatest hold of these 3 guitar string types.
The Age of Guitar - You should be careful what type of string you choose based upon the age of your guitar. For example, if you have an older or vintage guitar, they are generally intended to be strung with a very light gauge guitar string - generally a gut string. When you have a more modern guitar, you can likely make use of just about any kind of guitar string.
As we mentioned, guitar strings are usually a rather personalized decision. Nevertheless, when you fully think about all of the elements we've discussed, you'll find that you will be in a much stronger position to make the best choice regarding what the best guitar string will be for your own specific situation.
Top Tips For Home Music Production

Fri, 17 Jun 2011Recording at home can have a fairly large learning curve, especially when trying to sound more professional. Regardless what software you use, here are some tips to get better sound and put out a more impressive track.
All music recording software has frequency options. Many people don't know how to use these, but it's very simple. For recording an audio musical track always set it to 44.1khz—this is standard on all CDs, and 48khz is for television. If you can't record in 24 bit, or deal with 24 bit samples, then get hardware that can. This will dramatically increase the fidelity of your final track.
Stereo Panning and Mixing
Don't be afraid to make an immersive track. Especially if you are using DJ sample packs to make music. Pan those different tracks and give your listener a feeling of being surrounded by the music, and not just having it blasted directly in front of them. Watch clipping, and don't just use expensive headphones to mix. Most people won't be using them to listen to your track.
Use frequency filters. Pay attention to your audio quality. If you are recording vocals, try and to get rid of any microphone hiss, or ambient background noise. You can use a noise gate or a subtraction filter. Most software have these, and they can be added to FX chains for individual tracks. You can also buy actual hardware ones, they usually come in rack mount form.
If you are using DJ sample packs, or other types of sounds, make sure they are all in key! Use transposition tools to move it down or up steps until it's in key with the song. Many users start out by just mixing in random samples together and they end up with musical sounding dissonance and by doing this will open up more options for using your loops cohesively. It's also obvious, but you get what you pay for. To get more professional sounds you have to spend the money. There are a lot of great samples free online, but be prepared to do a lot of searching.
Hardware and Equipment
Amass as much equipment as you can. The more of your signal you fix in pre, the better sounding the final product will be. This includes everything from the mixing board you are using, to your mics. Avoid using PC mics, they usually have terrible frequency range and clip like crazy. You don't have to have professional equipment; Behringer makes great entry level products that can produce amazing results.
Body Breathing for Singing
If you have talked, studied or read about singing anywhere, no doubt you have heard at least once that singing well comes down to breathing. Why? Because your airflow is what breathes life or energy into your tone.
Your breathing abilities as a singer creates the airflow that is somewhat responsible for the creation of your vocal tone, the quality of your vocal tone, the length of your vocal tone and the power of your vocal tone. I say "somewhat responsible" because there are many other factors in the vocal tone game, but one thing is true. If your breathing is out of whack, EVERYTHING else will be too.
Intercostal breathing refers to breathing with the upper lobes of your lungs and could also be referred to as shallow breathing. You might think you are able to get the singing job done with this type of breathing, but it will NEVER be your best choice. This type of breathing generally occurs when the body is under stress, and STRESS never accompanies a good vocal tone.
Diaphragmatic breathing is a term that refers to breathing that engages the diaphragm. It involves a deeper breath, engages the lower lobes of your lungs, and fills your body core with oxygen. This is why I like to call it "body breathing." While many singers struggle with this technique, believe it or not it is the same EXACT method of breathing we use when we sleep well. When the body relaxes, the brain naturally opens up the pathway and allows the body to rest and heal itself overnight. Because oxygen is a requirement of that physical function, it is a natural course of action for a healthy body.
Understanding the sensation of breathing "correctly" for singing is half the battle. So next time you are about to fall asleep and find yourself in that nice relaxed state, pay attention to how it feels. If you are truly relaxed, you will find that you draw your breath deeply down towards your center and your sides expand evenly all the way around your midsection. Try to duplicate that relaxed breathing sensation while you are singing and you are on your way!
Breathing. The very life of your singing tone. How do your breathing skills rate?
